Carries Neil Brown out of the bush — May 2, 1969
During Operation Montana Raider in War Zone C (Tay Ninh province), an explosion was followed by a brief firefight in which PFC Neil Brown was killed. Top ordered Hustedt and John Lee (Range, 68–69) to carry Brown out through very thick bush. Hustedt, a new arrival ("cherry"), could barely move with his own gear but he and Lee got Brown out.
