Killed in action — December 11, 1967
SP4 Follett was killed by small-arms fire on the night of 11 December 1967 during the Battle of Tam Quan, in Binh Dinh province, Republic of Vietnam. The 1st Brigade after-action report records that at 22:15 his unit — D Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry (Airmobile), 1st Cavalry Division — ambushed PAVN troops attempting to escape south. SP4 Follett was 23.
