Killed in action — ambush, Tay Ninh Province, March 6, 1970
CPL Ware was killed during a ground ambush in Tay Ninh Province. Cause of death: multiple fragmentation wounds. He was 20 years old. His close friend and fellow Range Platoon soldier Sonny Silva wrote to Ware's fiancée and parents after his death: "I knew him well. He was a great person. He did not suffer."
