Written on 26 March 1971 — by coincidence the same day the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) officially stood down in Vietnam. His remark that he "doesn't know what to think of all the rumors of us going home" reflects that division departure; his own unit, D Co. 2/8 Cav, stayed in country under the 3rd Brigade (Separate). Family: "Buss" is Don Miller and "Dan" is Dan Miller, Marvin's older brothers; "Mary Ellen" and "Pat" are his older sisters.

Dear Mom,

I got the pictures you sent. It looks like all the kids were having a good time. Buss's trailer looks like it might have been rather crowded too.

I got a couple of letters from you and one from Buss and Mary Ellen. I got one from Pat too.

So winter isn't quite through yet. I don't see how it could last much longer though. April's just around the corner.

Well I'm glad to hear Buss and Dan got that tractor. Do they have any big plans for it, or are they just going to clean up the farm in general? It would be nice if they could get a mower for it. Then they could cut down some of the high weeds.

I don't know what to think of all the rumors of us going home. We hear alot of rumors but usually they don't come true. The people back in the States are probably better informed than we are.

Well I can't seem to think of anything to say. Maybe I'll be able to think of more later on.

Bye bye, Love Marv
