June 20, 1968 — YD353475 (Booby Trap) and YD347482 (Detention)

Research stub. Built from a single secondary source (a veteran-transcribed company daily journal). No US fatality is recorded from this incident.

At 1015 hours on June 20, 1968, an enlisted man of D Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry was wounded by a booby-trapped Chicom grenade rigged with a trip wire, at grid YD353475. Medevac ran at 1035 hours; the booby trap itself was destroyed.

Later the same day, at 1510 hours, the company detained one military-age male at grid YD347482, who was turned over to 1st Brigade for interrogation. This was the month's only enemy prisoner, per the journal's own end-of-period tally ("captured one POW").

Next source needed

The 2/8 Cav daily staff journal (NARA RG 472, 20 June 1968) would identify the wounded soldier and give further detail on the detained individual and the disposition of the interrogation.
