At 0900 hours on June 26, 1968, D Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Cavalry took small-arms fire from a single North Vietnamese soldier while moving south at grid YD288321. The company assessed an estimated six to seven NVA on the same trail. No US casualties were reported, and the journal gives no enemy casualty count or unit identification.
